Podscope: the Podcast Search Engine

While checking out what was new on Pocket-lint I was intrigued by Podscope, which is a search engine for Podcasts.  The technology is powered by TVEyes which already offers monitoring of Television and Radio broadcasts.

I played with Podscope which just like Google, NewsPad and others is still in beta.  Podscope was able to deliver relevant results from among those that it had already indexed.  By clicking on a + located just to the left of the results additional detail regarding the results is revealed where you can learn more about who or what is behind the Podcasts.

All in all, while the number of results was nowhere close to that of a traditional text search the amount of Podcasts to be indexed is still relatively small.  I'm certain that as more of us begin producing Podcasts the index will grow.

I guess Podscope is just one more indicator that Podcasting is here to stay for a while.

Podcasting Increases Distribution by 160 Times

I just returned from the great city of New Orleans where the latest Webmaster World Conference.  The event was filled with lots of great people and lots of great ideas.  I am always interested in what I will learn next when I attend these events.  Frequently I find that I learn things that you think would be obvious.

For example, everyone knows, atleast you would think so, that Podcasting is an effective means for delivering a message to a market place.  During one session geared toward postcasting Darrin Babbin who produces "Cover Story" revealed that the uniqe request of the "Cover Story " were up 160 times  due to making the content available via RSS.

Anytime you can improve the response by 160 times that is worth checking out how it was done.
