WebmasterWorld

I attended the November WebmasterWorld affectionately known as PubCon!  The event was outstanding and seems to improve with each subsequent event under the direction of Brett Tabke and his team.

This event hosted in Fabulous Las Vegas featured a segment on Podcasting where SE Guru Darrin Babin of WebmasterRadio and Greg Jarboe of SEO-PR presented their perceptions of where podcasting is going and it is going up.  Up in popularity; Up in quality of content; up in availability; Up in usability.  According to Darrin venture capital firms don't really understand it, but they know enough to say that it is one of the next big things and that they want invest in it.

If you haven't started using Podcasting as an information source it is time to do so.  I have used it to listen to content at my desktop, my car, on airplanes, and just walking around.  You can download it to your iPod or other mp3 player device and enjoy it whenever you want.  I love the iPod Shuffle for running and changed quickly adapted to the iPod Nano 4G when it became available.  They couldn't be simpler to use and you can even store photos and other content on many of the devices out there.

Don't hesitate to become a part of the syndication wave so you can ride it up!

RSS Anyone?

Everywhere I go and everything I see seems to be warming up to RSS.  Everything from following your UPS and Fedex shipments to industry news can be followed with this really cool form of syndication.  Even search results at NewsPad can be received on an ongoing basis via the use of RSS.  It doesn't matter if you want it sent to your desktop or cell phone you can get the information that you want when you want it.

If you haven't gotten a newsreader on your desktop yet don't hesitate.  The absolute best way to become familiar with RSS is to use it.  You will be amazed.  It really is simple!

First Video Blog Network Launches

ReelBlogs announced the launch of the first video blog network on the Internet. Blogs on the ReelBlogs network will produce short-form video content made specifically for Internet and video podcasting audiences.  This is another step towards meeting the growing iPod frenzy that is occurring everyday.

In a matter of time we may find that people are running around with digital cameras blue toothed to their iPods creating mini television programs on the fly.  I'm personally very excited about the ability to do that.  Of course there is a lot more opportunity for the average citizen to be caught on tape so speak doing both good and bad.  Let us hope that podcasting doesn't become the new medium for a bunch of "Jerry Springer" wannabees.

Still for the 95 percent of the people out there who are just trying to do the right thing this shouldn't be a problem.  The problem they will face is monitoring what video content their kids are being exposed to by every other kid carrying around his iPod.

RSS to the Rescue: Intelligent Talking Alarm Clock Wakes You Up Early in Case of Bad Weather

This is an excellent idea!  I don't know how many times I awoke to bad weather and wished I had an extra thirty minutes to make my commute.  Of course now I live only 10 minutes from the office, and that is walking time.  However, for all of you who still face a commute of much more distance there is a solution.  The solution is an alarm clock that is fed information via RSS so that it knows when you will be challenged with bad weather.

Maybe eventually it will be tied into the toaster and the coffee maker so that they start early as well.  If you live in an extremely cold environment perhaps it could start your car so that it is nice and warm for that even earlier commute you will face.
